The Wren was designed with ease and shape in mind. It's relaxed, voluminous and intentionally oversized. The exaggerated yoke adds a bit of architectural interest. The kind of detail that makes this not your average crewneck. The sleeves are slightly cropped and full thanks to the deep box pleats, a statement without shouting. This a solid tried and true you will make many of.

 

Our patterns come in PDF format for use at home, copy shop or projecting with both size ranges included. The DD range comes in sizes XS - XXL and the JJ range comes in sizes 1X - 5X.

Size & Fit

This pattern is available in 2 size ranges; DD XS-XXL and JJ 1X-5X

Gabby is wearing a size 1X from the JJ size range in a 20oz Cotton Fleece. Her measurements are: 42"/36"/45" at 5'8"

Malak is wearing a size S from the DD size range in a 22oz Cotton Fleece from Koshtex in color Heather Grey. Her measurements are; 34"/26"/37" at 5'8".

Fabric Recommendation

This pattern was created for heavier weight (11oz +) fleece fabric with minimum 15% stretch in circumference; fleece/ponte/double knit. Or size down and try a stretch woven with similar minimum stretch. However, we believe you can make everything out of anything, feel free to contact us for advice if you’re feeling adventurous.

    A joy to make

    I cut my fabric and made up the Wren easily in a day. I very much enjoyed sewing the top. It is a cool design and I will definitely use the pattern again in other fabrics, a thicker fleece and maybe even be brave a try a non- stretch - I think it would show the pattern off well.

    I love this pattern so much - good instructions, superb fit, and unique design. I used a medium weight, less structured cotton fleece, sized down, and it came out beautifully. I feel so happy wearing it and can't wait to make more Daughter Judy patterns, I just can't decide which one!

    I love the wren! I made it in a lighter weight sweatshirt fleece in a smaller size than suggested and now have a great sweatshirt for autumn. The round seamlines add lots of interest.

    Very cool Design and a fairly easy sew

    I loved making this, especially after a very involved sew that didn’t turn out how I wanted (my fault for using gauze). I really love the interesting yoke detail and cuffs. I need to work on my tension so the seams don’t grown while top stitching, but this project gave me further confidence to keep working on sewing knits! I will say the sizing is very very boxy, my next version I will grade down the width to match my rather rectangular frame. This is my second pattern in 2 weeks from DJ and I’ll be back for more!
