The Wren was designed with ease and shape in mind. It's relaxed, voluminous and intentionally oversized. The exaggerated yoke adds a bit of architectural interest. The kind of detail that makes this not your average crewneck. The sleeves are slightly cropped and full thanks to the deep box pleats, a statement without shouting. This is a solid tried and true you will make many of.

 

Our patterns come in PDF format for use at home, copy shop or projecting with both size ranges included. The DD range comes in sizes XS - XXL and the JJ range comes in sizes 1X - 5X.

Fabric Recommendation

This pattern was created for knit fabric with minimum 15% stretch in circumference; fleece/ponte/double knit. Or try a stretch woven with similar minimum stretch. However, we believe you can make everything out of anything, feel free to contact us for advice if you’re feeling adventurous.

    The GOAT

    I've made eight versions of the Wren sweatshirt - two for myself and six that I am giving away as gifts this holiday season. I've used midweight fleece and French terry, and both worked beautifully. If you are looking for a go-to pattern to create apparel for others, this is a wonderful choice. The design is so special - modern and architectural, yet oversized, so there is less concern about picking the right size. The instructions are fantastic (as all Daughter Judy patterns are), and it is a quick sew (cut to complete in an afternoon). The Wren is not only my favorite knit pattern, but it's probably my favorite pattern, FULL STOP.

    Wren fleece.... off to make another!

    I recently completed my first wren fleece in a ponte knit. It's fabulous and I can't wait to make more. The deep yoke and box pleat at the cuff, among other things, make this a visually satisfying piece.

    I am new at knit sewing but this pattern is a gem.I already made two very modern and cozy fleeces and planning a third for my sister. The cut is beatiful and the instructions great.
