    Great style and fit, but...

I've been sewing for many years and have made countless coats. I got a glimpse of this coat on a chore coat YouTube video and became obsessed with tracking it down. But while the construction is fairly simple, my old brain struggled mightily with the instructions for the welt pocket. I spent more than two hours trying to figure it out! When I finally did, I realized I had put the pocket bag in upside down. (Well, that's why God made seam rippers.) I also got tripped up on the term "knuckle bag". Never heard it before. A sew-along-with-me video on YouTube would be very helpful. But I do love the coat. I've already bought the fabric to make it again.

    Great pattern!

Great pattern with really interesting style lines! Only thing I would have wanted would be instructions on when to finish seams, other than that everything ran smoothly!

    Coolest coat

I've been wanting a denim jacket for a while, and knew I wanted something a little different. This pattern is truly brilliant and a good demonstration of why DJ designs are so special – I always learn something and stretch myself. All those seams were actually quite soothing to put together and topstitch.

This was complete user error on my part, but may help someone else as absent-minded as me: if you have the pattern printed at a copy shop on A0, be aware that the front shoulder piece is split into two so you have to make sure to tape the two pieces together. I did figure out where I went wrong pretty quickly once nothing aligned, and was able to fix it. Love my coat. Would make again. Excited for the expansion with the lining and hood :)

    Really lovely pattern!

Hi, I loved making the Thompson coat, the only thing I was missing was a lining, though that is easily self drafted usually, for the interesting style lines of the Thompson Coat it was not as straightforward.
