This time of year post winter break is always a bit ambiguous. By now my socialization tank is full and I’m somehow still tired after this “time off” but also feeling energized by the countdown to a fresh year and a very clean slate on my T+A Calendar (I live for excel spreadsheets). These past few weeks, months really, have been very reflective on what’s next for Daughter Judy in 2025. This little corner of the internet has gathered steam and I want to again thank all of you for joining and supporting this tiny team. We’ve been pondering what else we can bring to the table, along with your survey feedback, so this year will start looking a bit different, in the best of ways! This year we’ll be bringing 2 additional columns to you, alongside the Bulletin Board and the Loose Leaf. The Bulletin Board - this column will continue to be linked with pattern releases and answer questions pertaining to the pattern, shopping, tips and minor adjustments. Loose Leaf - this once-a-month column will feature longer format writing like deep dives, long reads, and conversations. [available to paid subscribers] The Lab - this new column is where you’ll find more scientific and technical information. It’ll feature topics around hacks, pattern making, grading, etc. This will also be released once a month. [available to paid subscribers] Extracurricular - our last new and shorter column will lean more towards the creative and spontaneous as a short format list-ish view. It’ll feature topics like styling, inspiration, reading, watching, shopping, etc. Another monthly release and hopefully a creative palette cleanser. [available to paid subscribers] With that, today’s Loose Leaf will touch on a darker side of making, inspired by that ambiguous mix of post-holiday fatigue and the new year’s potential.
