How I try to Keep it all Together
an ode to getting organized

I love a good organizational tool. Clickup and I have become very well acquainted over the past few years and my Google Calendar is my personal assistant. The goal this year was to launch 10 patterns across sewing, knitting and Substack so getting organized when that timeline got condensed this year was imperative. (Proud to say the Holiday Reader pattern will be No.10 but 2025 will definitely be looking different) mock up for the BONNET shirt sleeve placket. The tool that helps keep me the most organized is setting calendar dates that set aside time to get organized. At the end of each month I have a recurring last Sunday of the month reminder to sit down and plan out the next months socials (as I sit here and write this my phone has just pinged me a reminder). By now it’s become more of a rollover plan while still trying to sprinkle in newness here and there. This also helps me not feel overwhelmed by the silent whispers of “create more contenttttt”. I have a plan, I know what works and what doesn’t and I’m going to action on it. Similarly with Substack, I have standing bi-weekly blocks for Loose Leaf writing and block out additional time if that’s not enough or if I need to build illustrations for the topic. I also try to keep a month ahead here and use ClickUp tasks to write notes on thoughts before leading up to the sit down and write dates. The socials and Substack calendars are probably the 2 that I’m active in the most because they are my micro tasks. The macro tasks, aka the patterns, need much longer runways. my most beloved organizational tool, my giant cork board. The years worth of styles are generally planned out by late summer of the previous year....
